Mayor Boris...or whatever you want to call me.
So Boris wins, and i'm inclined to give him the absolute fairest of chances to do the job well. Despite an overwhelming admiration for the work Ken has done, creating what I believe to be one of the most exciting cities in the world, a Boris administration may have its advantages.
Watching him just now on BBC News (as it now is), I was struck by the similarity of something he said to one of the most memorable passages of 'The Blair Years'. He revealed that he had leant two things about communicating his political message, that you had to repeat it until "they got it squarely between the eyes" and that once this was done it was ok to make a few jokes now and again. Alistair Campbell's insistence that its only untill you're sick to the back teeth of repeating your message that the electorate start to hear, rang very true to Borris' revelation.
I struggle to grasp which is more surprising. The fact that this apparent coming of age for Boris now casts him in almost exactly the same Ilk of media operator as Tony Blair, whose communication techniques he has previously loved to pour scorn on, or that hes managed to come this far in his political career without realising this fact.
Watch this space to see if he passes this hard won advice o to Boris snr. - Who I'm tipping to be the next MP for Henley, because given the last 48 hours events- it just seems right.
For now; congratulations Borris, there is no one else in the country hoping as sincerely as me that you don't balls this one up.

Huhney coated problems.

I'm not sure the "i really can't remember it" line is the best rebuff for Chris Huhne's first littleleadership hiccup.
Still, I guess if you can remember it, you really werent there...

Crossed wires...
On the subject of former News of the World editor Andy Coulson getting the Tories Communications Director Job, (an Alistair Campbell 2.0 to go with your Blair lite Sir?), I think little sums up the story quite as well as the Tags on the Kerron Cross Post on this subject.
"Andy Coulson, Communications Chief, News of the World, Page 3, phone tap, scandal, Tories"
Now thats got to be worth a read;)
Welcome to Eton - Please give generously...

Yes, I know its a joke...thanks to Newsbiscuit and RecessMonkey, who I shamelessly stole this off...
